"Several hours after checking in, my wife and I decided we did not wish to keep the second night reservation. We were bothered by a musty smell and a general sense of untidiness. The night manager informed us that the hotel had no problem with the cancellation, but we must deal with Travelocity, as our reservations were booked through them. That night, I personally did not sleep at all, due to the odour and resulting problems with my sinuses. I telephone Travelocity who informed me that they had no problem with our proposed cancellation. The Travelocity representative spoke with the hotel, who refused our request to cancel. I spoke with the front desk person, explaining our complaint, with no success. She informed me that their policy required 24 hours for cancellations. I then showed her the printed, hotel "100% satisfaction guarantee", which in basic terms explained that if the hotel could not correct the clients complaint, the remainder of the stay would be free. The front desk person refused to take any action.
As a result, we checked out and found alternative accommodations. Obviously, we will not stay at this particula hotel again, and I doubt that we will use an internet service to book reservations. It is unfortunate to have this bad experience. My wife and I have travelled to Ireland, on two occasions, with all travel arrangements and accommodations booked over the internet. Out experience in that country was outstanding.
I will be pursuing this matter with the hotel and their corporate headquarters, if necessary.
Sincerely,
Rich Judge"

"For best rates, book online! I was charged a higher rate my second night because I didn't book it online. I decided to stay a second night because I had a great time in Toronto, but i didn't anticipate having to pay more for it!"
